Valentine's Day is coming up on Sunday, February 14th. If you are looking for something unique to do with your loved one...how about a walk through one of our city parks with the pathway lit up by luminaries this weekend?

The Happy Hearts Park Stroll is for all ages. The Friends of Grand Rapids Parks organization has partnered with the city of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department to host these free walks. Come with friends, the kids, a partner, or enjoy a beautiful evening alone!

The parks that will feature these lighted paths are Huff Park, Garfield Park Nature Reserve and Roosevelt Park. The luminaries will be lit from 6-9 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Those who participate are asked to wear masks when near others and keep a distance of 6 feet between each other on the paths.

Huff Park is located on the city's northeast side at Aberdeen and Ball...

Garfield Park Nature Reserve is located on the southeast side of Grand Rapids at Burton and Madison...

Roosevelt Park is located in southwest Grand Rapids along Godfrey Avenue near Plaster Creek...

From their website:

"The mission of Friends of Grand Rapids Parks is to empower people to cultivate vibrant parks, trees, and green spaces in the Grand Rapids community. Our vision is thriving parks and a sustainable urban forest that actively supports our community’s economic, environmental, and cultural health."

The organization was founded in 2008, with the belief that all kids in our community are entitled to experiences in parks and opportunities to connect with nature. For some children in the community, the neighborhood park is their backyard; a place to discover their hidden talents and a place to build confidence and try new things.
