A new scam that's started around West MI involves scammers spoofing police department numbers and pretending to be officers, trying to get money from you for various reasons.

The scam happens when people receive a call offering tech support help. Unfortunately, they're really just trying to help themselves to your phone.

Technically it's not new, but it's not been making headlines for much of this year, so with everything else 2020 has brought to us, this is new.

There have been multiple reports of these phone scams from counties across the state.
