We're all aware of the story about Grand Rapids homeless veteran, Jim Wolf who got a sort of 'make over.'  I wrote a blog about Jim a couple of weeks ago here on our website. The video that was made of Jim's transformation went viral and got thousands of comments, and we can only pray that that small act of kindness will be the catalyst for Jim's recovery.

One of the true beacons of light and hope for the hundreds of struggling people and families in our community, the Guiding Light Mission, is having their annual Thanksgiving Dinner this coming Sunday, November 24th.

It's a fast, changing area, South Division in downtown Grand Rapids, is.  Better known as the Heartside Neighborhood, and home for many missions and shelters who try to take care of the homeless, down and out, who have no where else to turn. Karen Olson, founder of the Family Promise National Network, will be the featured speaker at the first benefit event for Family Promise of Grand Rapids. The benefit dinner is Thursday, April 18, 6:30 p.m., at the University Club in downtown Grand Rapids. The event is open to the public, and tickets are $50 in advance.

Tuesday, Jon Stewart, on The Daily Show, slammed an Indianapolis Television Station after it hosted a "Homeless Talent Show".  Obviously, trying to keep the hype going after "The Man With The Golden Voice", Ted Williams, was discovered on a street corner and made headlines...

I must admit I was suspicious of this whole story.  After balloon boy turned out to be a hoax I have become cynical of all media.  TV, Radio, Internet will do anything to draw you into them.  Doesn't matter whether it's true or not all that matters is how many people you can get to watch...
