Western Michigan University’s Essential Needs (previously known as the Invisible Needs project) is back this November and December.

Several Michigan dispensaries are hosting a canned food drive throughout the state for those in need including a Grand Rapids dispensary.

She'll be at Feeding America for an announcement and then Public Threads in Grand Rapids.

Last year in the Grand Rapids/West MI area we helped feed 50,000 families!

This Saturday, May 14, the Grand Rapids letter carriers will once again take part in the nationwide Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Their goal: to collect 70,000 pounds of food, a roughly 10 percent increase from last year. Thank you to everyone who donated food and non perishable items to The River &  WZZM 13's Food For Families! Our goal was 200,000 pounds-- and we passed it!

The River has teamed up with Spartan Stores and WZZM 13 to feed the hungry in West Michigan in Food For Families. Kim broadcasted live from WZZM for the kick off of the campaign. The Spartan truck will stay at ZZM's studios (645 3 Mile) to collect your donations...

Your donation to Food for Families makes a big difference in your community! Local food pantries are often inundated during the holiday season because people are in the spirit of giving. But the giving slows dramatically during the summer months. That's unfortunate because experts know... hunger doesn't take a summer vacation.
