This story just keeps getting better! Earlier this week, hearts across Michigan (and the U.S.) were broken when they learned that Eastwood, a special needs dog, was the only one left at a shelter in Harbor Springs after the 'Empty the Shelter' event from the weekend...

The Humane Society's Empty the Shelter Saturday was so successful, that, aside from a few puppies, the shelter is empty! Andy Rent talked about this on his Andy in the Morning show for Wet Nose Wednesday.

Yesterday was the “Empty the Shelter” event at 69 animal shelters around Michigan.  The event was sponsored by Bissell Pet Foundation, who paid the adoption fees for the over 1,500 pets that were adopted! According to Fox 17, twenty-two of the 69 shelters reported being empty or almost completely empty after Saturday’s adoption event...

The BISSELL Pet Foundation announced Thursday that it will pay all adoption fees on Saturday, October 22, at more than 50 animal shelters and other rescue organizations throughout Michigan.

After public outcry led to the closing of the The Barking Boutique in Woodland Mall, The BISSELL Pet Foundation stepped in to secretly purchase the remaining puppies. Five puppies are now available for adoption, WZZM-13 reports.
