Long before there was a Van Andel Arena music fans had to go elsewhere to see a show in Grand Rapids and one of those venues was Grand Valley State University.

The Grand Rapids Pops series strikes up the band this summer with the D&W Fresh Market Picnic Pops at Cannonsburg Ski Area.

It didn't take long for concerts at the Meijer Garden's to sell out. Ten minutes for some, a few hours for others. All told, 21 concerts sold out by Saturday evening.

The members only pre-sale for Frederik Meijer Garden's Summer Concert Series started at 9 a.m. Saturday, and by 11 a.m. nine of the scheduled shows had already sold out.

The video features Lorde in angel wings, Elton John covered in butterflies, and Stevie Wonder surrounded by diamonds and it's pretty spectacular. More than 20 superstars from the music world came together with the BBC for a remake of the Beach Boys' hit, "God Only Knows," and original Beach Boy Brian Wilson got in on the action, too.

It's "Summertime Hits" tonight and Friday night, July 24 and 25, at the D&W Fresh Market Picnic Pops with the Grand Rapids Symphony!
