For 131 years St. Cecilia Music Center has upheld its mission of promoting the appreciation, study and performance of music in order to enrich the lives of the residents of West Michigan. St. Cecilia Music Center is proud to support music programs for Youth and Adults from West Michigan offering participation in bands, orchestras, ensembles and music clubs, as well as, summer camps.

Two summer camp programs will be held this June, 2014. The String Camp for Kids will take place from June 23 - 26 for kids 6th grade and younger. A brand “New” Adult Fiddle Camp will be held on June 24, 25, and 28 to give adult violin, viola, cello, and bass players a chance to try their hand at fiddling.

The String Camp for kids is for those who are 1st or 2nd year strings players currently in the 6th grade or younger. The String Camp for kids will be half-day sessions from June 23 – 26, 2014. Tuition is $100 per student for 12 hours of instruction throughout the camp week including Orchestra (large ensemble experience), Sectionals (small group, instrument specific instruction), New Techniques (including shifting and vibrato), Fun Ways to Learn (games and new friends), Snacks (daily), and a Finale Performance (family and friends invited!).

The “New” Adult Fiddle Camp will introduce adults to a variety of distinct fiddling styles including Scottish (Cape Breton), Irish, and Bluegrass. This three-session workshop will be held June 24 (6:30 – 8:30 p.m.), June 25 (6:30 – 8:30 p.m.), and June 28 (8:30 – 11:30 a.m.) and is open to any violin, viola, cello, or bass players who wish to try their hand at fiddling. The class fee is $75.
