Heavy storms swept through the region yesterday afternoon, bringing with it large hail in several areas. WZZM 13 reported last night that thousands of people were left without power. According to Consumers Energy, 19,800 residents are without power state wide, with Kent county accounting for about 5,700 of those reports. Power is scheduled to be restored sometime today, but crews have to clear away debris before they can start repairing the power lines. Watch  WZZM 13's newscast below.

In West Michigan the hardest hit area is Kent County with almost 5,700 outages. Ottawa County has 1,900 outages, Montcalm County has 1,700 and Calhoun County has 2,400. In Allegan County more than 600 homes and businesses are without power. Mecosta County has 773 outages.
