A new restaurant is getting ready to open its doors soon but need a full staff hired before doing so.

It was a year ago when we reported a Southern restaurant was coming to Downtown Grand Rapids. Now one [crazy] year later, Tupelo Honey Café will be opening in late September (it was originally supposed to open this past Spring). Tupelo Honey is a restaurant chain based out of Asheville, North Carolina and Grand Rapids will soon be their 18th location... and only one in Michigan.

On the restaurant's website they say they are excited to bring their food to G.R. because the city reminds them of Asheville.

Like Grand Rapids, our Asheville, NC home is a mecca for beer and art in the Southeast and we are excited to blend our kindred love in Grand Rapids...

The restaurant will be located on the first floor of Hyatt Place hotel at 140 Ottawa Ave. NW and is now hiring. They posted on their Facebook page that they are looking for front- and back-of-house employees (hosts, servers, cooks, bartenders, etc). There's also several benefits workers can receive such as insurance, 401K eligibility and family shift meals.

According to Grand Rapids Magazine, Tupelo Honey has 80 positions to fill and will be hosting a hiring event from August 24-28 from 10a-5p. Interviews are open to the public. If interested, apply in advance here.

Various grand opening events will be held next month featuring fundraisers and contests.

Tupelo Honey has been around since the year 2000, and they describe their food as a "revival" on traditional Southern food, which is all made-from-scratch and locally sourced. Can we just take a moment to admire this delicious creation below?

Ugh, it's making me so hungry... I cannot wait!
