Former G.R. Radio Personality Honored on U.S. Senate Floor

It's not often that a radio personality gets honored in the U.S. Senate. One former West Michigan radio personality had that happen recently.

If you were in the Grand Rapids area in the late 80s and early 90s, you might remember listening to Robert J. Wright. He was part of the Q-Morning Zoo on 94.5 KLQ, working alongside Rick Beckett, Darla Jaye, and Jay Allen. Robert Left Grand Rapids in the early 90s and made stops in Cleveland, Philadelphia, and Orlando before making it to Shreveport, Louisiana in 1996. In his younger years, he graduated from high school in the Shreveport area and went to LSUS -- where he started his first job in radio.

After 50 years behind the radio microphone, Robert is going to retire at the end of the month, on Friday, April 29th. He hangs up his headphones and radio career one day after his 70th birthday. He has been at K945, KVKI and KEEL for 25 years.

During his time waking up Shreveport, along with his on-air co-host Erin McCarty, Robert has interviewed Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy on several occasions. Someone from Cassidy's staff learned of Robert's retirement and Senator Cassidy decided he wanted to honor Robert.

Robert was surprised to hear Senator Cassidy's remarks on the U.S. Senate floor recently. This tribute will now be part of the Congressional Record -- how cool is that?!
