Interesting article on mlive.com today.  Rob Bell is the pastor of one of Grand Rapids largest churches, Mars Hill Bible Church, and he was all over the news yesterday.  He has written a new book entitled "Love Wins...A Book About Heaven, Hell, and the Fate of Every Person Who Ever Lived.”  Baker Books has pre-ordered 500 copies to try and meet the expected demand.  Some people have already come out calling the book "controversial."  Well that is Rob Bell, isn't it?  The same thing happened when he wrote "Sex God."   I have read that this new book is supposedly about the belief that all humans end up in heaven, and hell is not in the picture.  In other words if you are born in say, India, you are raised Buddhist and you have no knowledge of Christianity there is grace for you too.  Interesting to think about for sure.

I have interviewed Rob Bell, and all I can say is I like the guy.  What I like most about him is that he causes thought!  He causes you to think about things in new ways and make your own decisions on whether you agree or disagree with him.  He is a preacher yes, but he is also a man who questions everything.  Jesus ' disciples questioned things as well.  He never once struck me as the kind of person who came across as having all the answers to all of life's questions.  So while it is causing lots of controversy across this country's air waves, I'm going to see for myself what he has to say when the book is released late March, early April.

You do not have to agree with all of it, some of it or any of  it.  But it's probably a good idea for you to digest the book yourself and make your own educated decision instead of allowing the talking heads across the nation to tell you what to think.  I'm just sayin'...

Baker bookstore at 2768 East Paris Ave. SE is planning a debate on the topic of  universalism after “Love Wins” is released, though no date has been set.
