West Michigan Brewery and Restaurant Permanently Closing
After nearly a decade in business, a Grandville brewery and restaurant is shutting its doors for good.
Grandville's Osgood Brewing Shutting Down
Nine years ago, with much hope and optimism, we opened our doors for business. Today this chapter of our lives is coming to an end.
We would’ve loved to have a “last day” event, or tell everyone ahead of time so we could fill the place, but we lack the staff to provide reasonable service... It would be unkind to our staff and our guests to attempt it. We realize this may disappoint some of you, and we are sorry we could not have a proper goodbye.
Almost nine years ago to the day, Osgood Brewing opened its doors at 4051 Chicago Dr SW,. in Grandville.
The brewery was named after the original Osgood Tavern in Grandville, which opened in the 1830's and was located about one block away.
Ronald Denning co-owns Osgood Brewing with his wife Mindy Denning.
Osgood Brewing's menu include chicken tacos, sandwiches and burgers, and stone-fired pizza.
Ronald tells Wood TV 8 that staffing Osgood Brewing has been a struggle the past few years, “but this year has easily been the most difficult." He says he think the COVID-19 pandemic prompted many to leave the industry and, "Those that have never worked in the industry don’t realize how difficult of a job it is for staff, and how they have to deal with so many issues, often times it not being their fault."
The announcement follows the closure of two other long-time Grandville restaurants on the same street earlier this year.
When is Osgood Brewing Closing?
Owner say Osgood will no longer be operating as a restaurant, effective Friday, September 2, 2022.
For the time being, bar service and beverage sales of their remaining inventory will continue, with limited hours over the next few weeks.
They encourage guests to bring in growlers and any unused gift cards soon. They'll continue to sell drinks on tap, discounted bottles of wine, and canned beer until its gone.
Ronald and Mindy Denning thanked the community in their closure announcement:
We want to thank our incredible families, our friends, past and present employees, the City of Grandville, and those of you who made us a regular stop. Your support has meant so much to us.
