No, Tito’s Vodka Will Not Protect You from the Coronavirus
With the Coronavirus now making its way around the U.S. people are trying more than ever to protect themselves. Health officials have advised us that the best prevention is washing our hands and not touching our faces. However, some people had other ideas involving Tito's Vodka.
It all started with a Tweet from someone on March 3rd who came up with the idea of making her own hand sanitizer, involving vodka.
While some people found it humorous or a great idea, Tito's... not so much. They responded back to the user advising them NOT to do this as their vodka only contains 40% alcohol.
The Austin-based vodka company worked overtime sending that response to people who felt otherwise or made light out of the situation. A spokesperson for the company told Eater that they wanted to "set the record straight" once they saw the Tweets rolling through.
While it would be good for business for our fans to use massive quantities of Tito’s for hand sanitizer, it would be a shame to waste the good stuff, especially if it doesn’t sanitize...
Personally, I think that Tito's should use this as an opportunity to make its own vodka containing 60% alcohol. That way it can serve both purposes... hand sanitizer and getting us drunk to forget about the Coronavirus.
