New Marijuana Shop Now Open in Saugatuck
West Michigan's newest cannabis dispensary is opening this weekend in Saugatuck.
New Standard is opening its seventh Michigan location at 6406 Blue Star Highway. According to Wood TV 8, the new store will hold grand opening festivities Friday and Saturday with free ice cream, a DJ, and a free pre-roll to the first 200 customers. Through July 31, New Standard is donating a portion of sales of particular products to Our LGBTQ Fund at the Grand Rapids Community Foundation.
New Standard Saugatuck offers both shopping in-store and curbside through online ordering.

According to their website,
We carry a wide variety of Michigan’s most noted cannabis brands, so if you’re looking for top-shelf flower, concentrates, edibles, tinctures, or balms, we have a deep selection in a bright and uplifting atmosphere. If you’re new to cannabis our trained and knowledgeable budtenders will make your visit easy and comfortable.
New Standard's other Michigan stores are located in Whitehall, Sand Lake, Grand Rapids, Grand Haven, Park Place, Hazel Park, Nunica, Edmore, and Ann Arbor.
Co-founded by Howard Luckoff and James Fisher, the company opened their first dispensary, Hazel Park, in April of 2020.
New Standard's CEO Luckoff described their business to Forbes,
New Standard is the first dispensary in Michigan to be a welcoming, comfortable, inclusive destination that anyone curious about cannabis can approach. Everything about our store has been strategically designed to make our guests feel at ease. Our vision is to provide a retail experience with the feel of a Shinola or Starbucks — one that is comfortable and consistent in terms of culture, customer experience and product offerings.
In late 2018, Michigan became the tenth state, and first state in the Midwest, to legalize recreational marijuana.
