The College Football Playoff Selection Committee this afternoon announced the inaugural College Football Playoffs field.

Selection Sunday put Alabama versus Ohio State and Oregon versus Florida State, with the winners vying for the national championship.

This is the equivalent of Division I college basketball's NCAA Final Four for college football, the first time NCAA FBS has had a playoff ever.

Big 12 Conference co-champions Baylor and Texas Christian finished fifth and sixth in the College Football Playoff Selection Committee final rankings. Baylor (11-1) beat No. 11 Kansas State (9-3) 38-27 and TCU (11-1) beat Iowa State 55-3 on Saturday.

The College Football Playoff Selection Committee has been ranking teams during the regular-season.
