Northrop Grumman has built an unmanned jet fighter that is designed to take off, strike targets, refuel and land - all on its own.

The defense department has had UAVs for quite some time now, but the Navy X-47B is a full-sized plane that requires no pilot to fly it; neither onboard nor remote. The robot plane will be remotely commanded by point-and-click.

The plane is experimental and will probably never see combat, but it will help pave the way for the next generation of unmanned military aircraft.
