Police are investigating after more than 40 razor blades were found placed around two Eaton Rapids parks.

Fox 17 reports that a parent called 911 on Monday afternoon saying their child had found a razor blade on a playground slide at to Howe Memorial Park.

Police say citizens had gathered 39 blades on the equipment and on the park grounds before police arrived. Officers then located two more.

Eaton Rapids Police Chief Larry Weeks told Fox 17 that some of the blades "appeared to be strategically placed on some of the equipment in an effort to possibly harm someone."

Other area parks were then checked by city workers, who found more razor blades at GAR Island Park.

All Eaton Rapids parks were temporarily closed while the search continued. They have since reopened and police say they're confident that any hazardous objects have been removed from the parks.

Police are searching for those responsible. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to their arrest and conviction.
