WOOD-TV reports that a proposal to increase the availability of food trucks in Grand Rapids will be introduced to city commissioners today.

The proposal seeks to allow food trucks into new spaces including public parks and parking curbside. Changes to the licensing process are also part of the proposal.

More discussion is planned including a possible public hearing on the proposal on July 26.

The proposal comes after getting feedback through the GR Forward community plan which has been adopted as part of the Grand Rapids' City Master Plan.

GR Forward and the plan to ease restrictions on food trucks both have the support of Downtown Grand Rapids Inc.
