The Right Place, along with state partners and the City of Kentwood, today announced Mico Industries will invest $8.2 million to expand in Kentwood and add 81 new jobs.

Mico Industries is experiencing significant growth, including a new project that is expected to increase sales by 50% beginning in 2016. This new work will require additional space and capacity. If the company had not been able to find a West Michigan location where they could expand, moving the project to Texas was a possibility.

To support the expansion, the company has been approved for a $350,000 performance-based grant through the Michigan Business Development Program.

“Mico’s decision to keep their growth in West Michigan further reinforces our recent ranking as #3 in the nation for business success,” said Megan Sall, Business Development Manager, The Right Place, Inc. “Companies like Mico face tremendous pressure to locate outside of Michigan, but thanks to our partners at the MEDC and the City of Kentwood, we were able to create a positive environment where they could create jobs and invest here at home.”

“The City of Kentwood is very pleased to partner with Mico as they improve and consolidate their West Michigan operations,” said Stephen Kepley, Mayor, City of Kentwood.
