Michigan’s Most Popular Baby Names For 2017

The Social Security Administration has released the list of the most popular baby names for 2017.  Every year they tally up names from every state and determine which are the most popular and this year's list had a few surprises.

But, before we get to the national list and the surprises, let's check out the most popular names in Michigan.  Liam and Emma topped the list for boys and girls with over 500 babies being named Liam and over 530 babies being named Emma in Michigan.

2017's Most Popular Girls Names In Michigan

1. Emma
2. Ava
3. Olivia
4. Charlotte
5. Amelia

And now for the surprises.  For the first time since World War II, the name Michael fell out of the top 10 most popular boy names in the country.  And the surprise for the girl's, Emily fell off the top 10 most popular girl names in the country for the first time since 1990.
