Michigan Park Offering Beach Wheelchairs

The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is aiming to make their park more accessible to those in wheelchairs.

According to a Facebook post, they now have beach wheelchairs that operate in the sand. They are free of charge with a Park Pass.

An adult and child’s chair is available at the Cannery at Glen Haven and an adult chair is available at the Maritime Museum.

A user will need a support person to help move the chair.

If you or someone you know is interested in using one of the chairs, they ask that you check in with a volunteer at the Cannery or Maritime Museum.
