What are the current masking requirements in Michigan?

At this point masking is not required by most persons in the state, although the MDHHS recommends that masks still be used in fighting the spread of Covid 19:

During the recovery phase, masks remain an important tool in mitigating spread of COVID-19. Individuals who feel sick, may be at higher risk of infection or who feel better protected when masked should choose when they feel comfortable masking.

What are the isolation policies for Covid 19 in Michigan?

The updated guidance from the MDHHS concentrates on those who are actively infected or are exhibiting common Covid 19 symptoms. Those who test positive or have symptoms (without a negative Covid 19 test) should isolate for 5 days and then mask for 5 days if asymptomatic or if symptoms are improving:

  • Isolate at home for the first five days (starting with the day after symptoms began or day after test was taken for those without symptoms).
  • If symptoms have improved or no symptoms developed, return to normal activities, while wearing a well-fitted mask, for the next five days to protect others.

What are the updated guidelines for schools in Michigan for Covid 19?

The MDHHS will no longer require districts in the state to regularly report Covid cases as the state enters its 'Post-Surge' phase. The new policy also reflects a 'personal choice' directive regarding masking:

Michiganders should consider their individual and family members’ risk factors and vaccination status when making the personal decision whether to mask.
