Police are investigating after an officer-involved shooting in Gaines Township early Sunday in which a man was killed.

Wood TV 8 reports the Kent County Sheriff's office responded to a domestic disturbance call to a Caledonia-area home on 100th Street near Patterson Avenue around 4a.m.

When officers arrived, a man met them at the door with a gun, and a fight broke out.

According to police, the main aimed his gun at the deputies, and one responded with lethal force. Deputies say they shot the man to disarm him.

Police say multiple officers sustained injuries and were treated at the scene. Others were inside the home at the time of the shooting and have been questioned by police.

Neither the name of the deceased or the name of the deputy has been released.

The Wyoming Police Department is now conducting the investigation.
