It's been three decades, but I think the 80's was a great music period with many memories flooding back when you hear your favorite song from that period.

The "flood-of-memories" will really be turned on this Friday, February 8, as Los Lobos, one of America's most distinctive and original bands of the '80s comes to the Forest Hills Fine Arts Center.

They may have had a hit with "La Bamba" in 1987, yet that cover barely scratches the surface of their talents. Los Lobos are eclectic in the best sense of the word. While they draw equally from rock, Tex-Mex, country, folk, R&B, blues, and traditional Spanish and Mexican music, their music never sounds forced or self-conscious. Instead, all of their influences become one graceful, gritty sound.

In their very first recordings, their rich musicality was apparent; on nearly every subsequent record, they found ways to redefine and expand their sound, without ever straying from the musical traditions that form the heart and soul of the band.

Friday night is not to be missed, with Los Lobos!  Tickets can be purchased in person at the Fine Arts Center box office (600 Forest Hill Ave SE), at any Ticketmaster outlet, at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000.  For more information, visit the Fine Arts Center’s website at www.fhfineartscenter.com
