KDL’s Teen Poetry Contest Winners
Earlier this year I wrote about the Kent District Library's Word Wise, KDL’s ninth annual teen poetry contest. It was open to all, aspiring, teem poets.
Well, it's in the books, and it was once again a huge success thanks to all the great teen poets out there. This year there were about 200 entries that the KDL staff reviewed. Once they narrowed down the entries, the "official" judge, David Cope took over. David is a creative writing professor at Grand Rapids Community College as well as the current Grand Rapids Poet Laureate. He selected 7 winners and 1 honorable mention. Congratulations to the winning poets! Here they are.
Winners:
Falling Tears by Jana Swanson
The Lost Years by Marissa Sterzick
