You may have some Willy Wonka type gold in your pocket and you didn't even know you had it.

That is if you have a Kent District Library (KDL) card. You do? Then you are in luck because it can take you around Kent County with some surprise gifts.

You thought that valuable KDL library card was just so you could visit and check out books at any KDL branch.

Not by a long shot. It is worth so much more.

WHAT CAN I GET WITH MY KDL LIBRARY CARD?

Your library card, a PERK PASS, as they call it, will get you complimentary guest passes to area museums and botanical gardens.

You sure can! What about the Grand Rapids Public Museum? Absolutely. What about the Grand Rapids Art Museum and the Children's Museum? Yes to both of those, too.

Occasionally you may even be able to get passes to the YMCA, Gerald R. Ford Museum, Circle Theatre, Opera Grand Rapids, and St. Cecilia Music Center as well.

This is so cool, as the Kent District Library has partnered with so many local institutions to make this great gift available to most all card holders.

WHAT ARE THE RULES?

You must be 18-years of age or older and have a KDL card. Card holders from other districts are not eligible.

Also, for most museums and the Meijer Gardens, the pass is good for six people to go on the reserved date.
