With movie theaters closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, drive-in theaters are one of the only ways to catch a movie this summer.

The Kalamazoo Growlers are jumping onboard this trend by turning Homer Stryker Field into a drive-in theater.  With the baseball season cancelled, this is a perfect way to use the ballpark during the summer.  So starting this Saturday, you can head down to the ballpark and catch a movie while relaxing in your car or even sitting on a blanket on the grass.  Tickets are $30 per car, or $7 per person if you are sitting on the grass.

Here is the current schedule for next week.  All showtimes begin at 6:30pm and the gates open at 5:00pm each day.

  • June 13th - The Lion King (Live Action)
  • June 14th - The Sandlot
  • June 15th - Toy Story 4
  • June 16th - Captain Marvel
  • June 17th - Aladdin (Live Action)

You can purchase food and drink from the concession stands at the ballpark and all employees are wearing masks and will be practicing social distancing and stringent disinfecting policies.

You can get all the information about the popup drive-in on the Kalamazoo Growlers' website. Maybe Fifth Third Ballpark will take a cue from Homer Stryker Field and show some films this summer too!
