In a follow up to his anti-abortion statements at a fund raiser, Harbaugh says he has told players and staff that he will take in their kids in the event of an unplanned pregnancy.

Harbaugh's Statement Comes After His Support Of The Overturning Of Roe V. Wade

University of Michigan Football coach Jim Harbaugh vowed in an interview released Tuesday, to raise the children of any player or staff member who has an unplanned pregnancy, and doesn't want the child.

Harbaugh's comments come in the wake of his speech at a fund raiser at a Plymouth Catholic Church last week where he came out firmly in support of the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe V. Wade, which had legalized abortion nationwide. The decision of legality on abortion now rests in the hands of state government.

"Let's discuss it," Harbaugh told ESPN's Gene Wojciechowski in the interview. "I've told [them] the same thing I tell my kids, boys, the girls, same thing I tell our players, our staff members. I encourage them if they have a pregnancy that wasn't planned, to go through with it, go through with it. Let that unborn child be born, and if at that time, you don't feel like you can care for it, you don't have the means or the wherewithal, then Sarah and I will take that baby."

Sarah is Harbaugh's wife of 14 years. They currently have four children of their own. Harbaugh has three other children with his first wife, Miah.

"Faith, Family, Football"

"Faith, family, football, those are my priorities," Harbaugh told Wojo in the interview, which took place in Muskegon during Harbaugh's state wide tour with his team, which stopped in GR last Friday. "This issue, abortion, is so big it needs to be talked about. It needs serious conversation."

It was at that point that Wojo asked Harbaugh what he would do if a player or a staff member came forward to him and asked to openly discuss the issue. After reiterating he was open to discussion, it was then he told Wojo of his family and staff policy, that he would take on another child if he it meant the person or their mate avoided having an abortion.

Jim Harbaugh Has Been Quite Vocal On Social Issues

In addition to his thoughts on abortion, Harbaugh also supported his former quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, in his protests against police violence toward people pf color, and attended protest marches in the wake of the George Floyd killing in the summer of 2020.

Understandably, in our current age, both stances were met with push back, but don't forget, Harbaugh lost five straight games to Ohio State, and if he can survive the wrath of Michigan fans through that nightmare, he can survive anything.

Do you think any of the following is even close to the vitriol Jim received after getting whomped by OSU at home in 2020? Not even close.
