Taking the top spot of USA Today's 10Best Reader's Choice Awards, one section of Michigan has rolled over all other locations in America where people go for that ultimate winter getaway. The 10 locations were nominated by an expert panel and voted by readers as the best destinations in the United States for a "snow and cozy getaway". Each location made the list because they offer everything that makes for a perfect snowy getaway. Here's what they had to say about the top selections;

"When winter rolls around, there's something magical about seeing everything covered in glistening snow. The cold, crisp air and snow-covered scenery make curling up by a fire all the more cozy. Not to mention, there are so many opportunities to enjoy fun winter activities, like snowshoeing, skiing, ice skating, sledding, or just going for an enchanting sleigh ride".

What Place in Michigan is the Best Destination in America for a Snowy Getaway?

We could have pretty much guessed that somewhere in Michigan would make a list like this, but taking the #1 spot just makes it even better. The Upper Penisula of Michigan has been crowned the best destination in the U.S. for a snowy & cozy getaway. Our famous U.P. beat out other notables such as Mammoth Lakes, California, and Jackson Hole, Wyoming to name a few.

"From, skiing and sledding to snowshoeing and snowmobiling, there’s plenty to do during winter in the Upper Peninsula towns of Sault Ste. Marie and Marquette. And while much of Mackinac Island is closed in winter, the trails are open for cross-country skiing in Mackinac Island State Park", USA Today said. 

Anyone in Michigan can tell you that the Upper Peninsula definitely earned the honor and is a prime destination for anything outdoors all four seasons.
