Watch the Moment Lightning Strikes Michigan Home
You hear about homes getting struck by lightning, but you don’t usually get to actually watch it happen.
That’s exactly what a Ring camera captured Monday morning in New Baltimore as storms rolled through the area.
The video (below) shows a huge flash as lightning strikes a home in Windridge Estates around 6:30 a.m. Seconds later, you can see just how intense that strike was.

According to FOX 2 Detroit, the lightning strike caused major damage to the home and sparked a fire. In the video, you can see the entire roof fully engulfed in flames.

Neighbors told the station the impact was so powerful it sounded like a massive explosion, while others said it felt almost like an earthquake. People say they heard and felt it from at least half a mile away.
Yeah, I think that would wake you up pretty quickly.
The fire quickly spread through the attic before eventually making its way down into the second floor.
Six Fire Departments Respond to Michigan House Fire

Firefighters from six different departments responded, with roughly 20 to 24 firefighters working to get the flames under control.
As bad as the video and damage look, there is some really good news here.
Everyone who was inside the home was able to get out safely, and no injuries were reported.
Yeah, that’s definitely not something you’re going to sleep through, that’s for sure.
