Thunder Falls Water Park, Mackinaw City: 1990s-2012

This particular Mackinaw City Fun Park was once located just south of Mackinaw City, at 14939 Mackinaw Highway.

Called the Thunder Falls Water Park, it originated in the 1990s with a track for go-kart racing and a miniature golf course.

It entertained for a while, then it was demolished in order to make way for a much larger fun park. This larger version still included the go-karts and other amusements, but also some cool water slides that towered into the sky, making it obvious to all travelers arriving into the city.

Alas, this larger park was not meant to last either. It closed in 2012 and was purchased in order to open the Odawa Casino-Mackinaw. The casino opened on May 25, 2016 and is still going strong.

Located near Interstate 75, all remnants of the old Thunder Falls Water Park have disappeared...but you can still see a portion of it if you scroll down a way and take a look at the image gallery...
