Michigan State football just wrapped up spring ball on Saturday. While it may not have looked perfect, it was a first real look at what the new era could look like.

What the Spring Showcase Really Means

The Spartans held their Spring Showcase inside Spartan Stadium, opening things up to fans who were willing to deal with the dip in temperatures just to see the team play. A few thousand showed up, which shows the excitement surrounding the team.

Fans Show Up Despite Cold Conditions

At quarterback, Alessio Milivojevic ran with the first team, while a handful of others rotated in. To the average viewer, the tone may have seemed defensive. They picked off a couple of passes and kept the offense from getting into rhythm for most of the game.

Defense Sets the Early Tone

Head coach Pat Fitzgerald brought everyone together at midfield for what he calls "Good Clean American Fun." It included the band, the fight song, and a few different competitions like a hot dog eating contest and spinning around on bats on the field.

A Lighter Moment With the Team

It turned into what these things are: players working together, signing autographs, as well as taking pictures. They also have the chance to communicate with fans, which is rare during the season.

We're already only a few months away from Spartan football, and what is to be seen is still yet to be determined. However, this is a new era for the Spartan football team, which is under new management for the 2026 season.
