
Sparta High School Needs New Head Coach After Lindsey Hunter Steps Down
Can you imagine how cool it would be to have a former professional athlete coach your high school team.

As a baseball lover I would have lost my mind if my head coach was a former tiger like Alan Trammel, Kirk Gibson or Andy Dirks.
That situation, which sounded like a dream, became a reality 6 months ago when Sparta High School shared some exciting news.

Two-time NBA Champion and former Detroit Piston star Lindsey Hunter accepted the position of head basketball coach.
Now just a few weeks before the season starts Lindsey Hunter is stepping down.
Hunter shared with MLive why he made the tough decision:
"Due to unforeseen family health problems, and responsibilities, I’m sadly forced to step down as Sparta’s head boys basketball coach, I respect and appreciate the mutual decision that has been reached and I wish the program nothing but growth and success moving forward. I want to sincerely thank Joel Stoner, Josh Sepanik, the boosters club and all the players and parents for the opportunity.”

I like many in West Michigan are bummed to hear this news, but at the end of the day taking care of your family and loved ones should be everyone's top priority and you can't fault someone for doing that.
