The NFL announced that the Detroit Lions will be traveling around 4,100 miles from Detroit, Michigan to Munich, Germany as they will be one of two teams playing there this upcoming season.

Why Does The NFL Play Games In Other Countries

The NFL started playing games internationally to expand its reach and to make more money from new fans buying merchandise.

If you're a casual NFL fan you might not know this but in 2022 the NFL started having regular season games in Germany.

In 2026, the NFL is scheduled to play regular‑season games in several countries beyond Germany.

United Kingdom – Multiple games in London split between Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Wembley Stadium.

Spain – Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid will again host at least one regular‑season game under a multi‑year deal.

Brazil – Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro is set to host a regular‑season game starting in 2026.

Australia – Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) will host the league’s first regular‑season game in Australia.

France – Stade de France in the Paris area will host the first NFL regular‑season game in France, with the New Orleans Saints as the designated home team.

Mexico – Estadio Banorte in Mexico City is scheduled to begin a run of regular‑season games in 2026

I don't know how I would financially afford it but you can bet I'm going to do everything I can to try and get a ticket to that game.
