Dave Coulier Reveals Shocking Second Cancer Diagnosis: ‘Early Detection Saved My Life’
In November of 2024, Michigan native Dave Coulier was diagnosed with Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a cancer affecting the lymph system.

The discovery happened when he noticed swelling in his lymph nodes when he had an upper respiratory infection.
For the next seven months, Coulier went through intensive chemotherapy, a grueling treatment that he was able to successfully complete.

Earlier this year in March, Coulier shared the great news that he was cancer-free from the lymphoma.
However, just six months after celebrating his remission, Coulier faced a new, unexpected diagnosis.
Coulier appeared on NBC's Today Show and shared that in October 2025, during a routine follow-up scan for his previous lymphoma, doctors discovered a second, entirely unrelated cancer: P16 squamous carcinoma located at the base of his tongue.
This type of cancer is common in the head and neck and is often associated with the human papillomavirus (HPV).
Despite the unfortunate news, the prognosis for P16 squamous carcinoma is considered very good, with cure rates often reported above 90%.
Coulier shared with the Today show how important it is to get your regular check-ups at the doctor.
Prognosis is very good for P16 squamous carcinoma, So it has a 90% curability rate. But the thing that has really saved my life, Craig, is that early detection saved my life, not just the first time but the second time as well. So I hope you’re getting your check-ups. I hope you get your colonoscopies and breast exams and prostate exams, they will save your life.
