Their pick for Michigan's No. 1 sandwich shop is Mudgie's Deli & Wine Shop in Detroit’s historic Corktown neighborhood. In operation for nearly 20 years, the deli is known for scratch-made sandwiches crafted from house-smoked meats, local ingredients, and inventive sauces.

The restaurant was opened by Greg Mudge in 2008. Sadly, he passed away in 2021, but his legacy lives on through the team he built and the sandwiches that continue to delight Michiganders every day.

For St. Patrick’s Day Mudgie’s rolls out a special menu celebrating all things corned beef.
Favorites include the Irish Reuben, Corned Beef Reuben, Vegan Reuben, Classic Corned Beef, and Irish Eggs Reuben, even a Reuben soup! Plus, other St.Patrick's specialties like green eggs and ham.
Corned Beef + Beyond All Year Long
But at Mudgie's corned beef is not just for March! In particular, Only in Your State shouts out The Barrett, which features corned beef, Swiss cheese, creamy coleslaw, and 1000 Island dressing, served warm on an onion roll.
Beyond corned beef, you'll find a broad selection sandwiches, including brisket, pork, steak, and seafood. You'll also find salads, sides, and sharable plates, plus Sunday brunch and weekly specials likes creative burgers and wraps.
The deli also offers vegan and gluten-free options, making it easy for everyone to find something delicious.
No stranger to awards, Mudgie's was named the best classic restaurant of the year by the Detroit Free Press in 2022 and has also been honored by Thrillist and Eater.
