When serial killers strike, Michigan has long been one of the states that has the most victims. Where does Michigan rank, and who are the other states in the top 10?
Michigan: A State For Serial Killers
Michigan has had some of the most prolific serial killers of all time, and one in particular is suspected of being the most prolific in United States history.
They called him "The Sunday Morning Slasher," but his real name is Carl Eugene Watts. In 8 years, Watts is suspected of killing over 100 victims.
Aileen Wuornos robbed and murdered seven men. A movie was made about Wuornos called Monster.
Several other prolific serial killers from Michigan collectively amounted to a total of 381 victims that are accounted for.

Top 10 States for Serial Killer Victims
Below are America's top 10 states for serial killer victims and the number taken in each state.
#10 Georgia
Georgia comes in at number 10 with a total of 365 victims. Samuel Little was known to have killed 60 victims for sure but claimed and was suspected to have killed 33 more.
#9 Michigan
Michigan gets the number 9 slot with a total of 381 victims. Over 100 of those victims died at the hands of Carl Eugene Watts.
#8 Washington
Washington comes in at number 8 390 victims. You may have heard of the Green River Killer who was from Washington state. Gary Ridgway is the second most prolific killer in all of the United States with a confirmed total of 49 victims but is suspected of having anywhere from 71 to 90 victims.
#7 Pennsylvania
The Keystone State comes in at number 7 with a total of 420 victims. Kermit Barron Gosnell is responsible for killing 48+ victims from that total.
#6 Ohio
The state directly below Michigan comes in at number 6 with 433 victims from serial killers. Shawn Grate is Ohio's most notorious serial killer. Another famous killer grew up in Ohio by the name of Jeffrey Dahmer. He killed 16 in Milwaukee but he grew up in Ohio before leaving the state as an adult.
#5 New York
New York lands at number 5 on the list with 628 victims. Joel Rifkin is New York's most prolific serial killer. Rifkin murdered and dismembered 17 women.
#4 Illinois
Illinois is another state close to Michigan and they land at number 4 on the list with a total of 629 victims. One of the most famous serial killers of all time comes from Illinois, and his name is John Wayne Gacy who was found guilty of 33 murders.
#3 Florida
Florida makes the list at number 3 with 845 victims fallen to serial killers. Ted Bundy was the most famous to be executed in Florida. Bundy confessed to 30 murders committed in seven states but his true victim total is still unknown.
#2 Texas
They say everything is bigger in Texas, and so is the state's number of victims by serial killers is 893 making it the number 2 state on the list. Kenneth McDuff is Texas's most notorious serial killer in the history of the state. McDuff killed 9 but some say he murdered at least 14. McDuff may have not had the big number of kills as some of the killers listed above but his blood thirsty brutal kills are what he's known for.
#1 California
California lands at number 1 with a massive 1,628 victims. One of the most famous serial killers was Richard Ramirez who murdered at least 13 people in a year in California.
