A live grenade was discovered Saturday in a vehicle parked at the Michigan State Police (MSP) Flint Post. The facility was temporarily closed while authorities investigated the situation.

According to MSP, the bomb squad responded after being alerted to a possible explosive. “The Flint Post is closed until further notice. Stay clear of the area,” the department advised on social media. ABC 12 reports the incident happened in the North Gate parking lot.

The bomb squad later confirmed the device was a real grenade. Officials reported it was safely removed and disposed of, stressing that the public was not in danger. MSP even released a photo showing the grenade after recovery, a reminder of how seriously these situations are taken.

Authorities also reminded residents of proper safety precautions when encountering potential explosives. MSP tweeted guidance: leave the item where it is, do not touch or move it, and call 911 right away. Trained bomb squad experts are available to assess and safely remove hazardous devices.

While the discovery caused a brief disruption at the Flint Post, no injuries or other hazards were reported. MSP has not shared how the grenade ended up in the parked vehicle.
