Lions–Cowboys Game Sets New Amazon Prime Viewership Record
Last week's game between the Detroit Lions and the Dallas Cowboys was a must win for both teams, but turned out to be an even bigger win for Amazon Prime Video.
What is Amazon Prime Video?
Amazon Prime Video is Amazon's video streaming service, bundled with an Amazon Prime membership or available standalone, offering on-demand movies, TV shows, live sports (TNF), and awarded-winning amazon Originals.
Thursday Night Football (TNF) officially launched as a regular series in 2006 on the NFL Network. Thursday games existed earlier with the NFL Kickoff Game in 2002, but only aired after the Thanksgiving game to finish the regular season.
The games were seen on the NFL Network, but share the rights with other networks such as CBS, NBC, and Fox Sports.
Amazon Prime Video started airing TNF in the 2017 season, but became the exclusive video streaming network in the 2022 season. The network started airing an exclusive playoff game in the 2020-2021 season, and a Black Friday game in 2023.
