There's one proposed park plan from back in the day we really wish would have happened  though...

Grand Rapids Almost Had a Pizza Park

The City of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation recently shared that a delicious-looking triangular park was proposed in the 1970s near Monroe Ave and Coldbrook St.

Alas, Pizza Park was not meant to be. For whatever reason, it did not come to fruition.

As GR Parks and Rec says, "We'll never forget what could have been."

Some of the comments on the Facebook post are truly great.

Mitten Pizza replied,

Shawmut Hills Schools commented,

Our fifth graders are making a Shawmut Hills Tree Tour. To do list: have students design their own park using tree canopy as part of an aerial design. Bet. We’ll be back. Thanks for the inspiration.

So if Pizza Park didn't happen, what IS in this spot in Grand Rapids?

Close to the Grand River, the plot is kind of in-between two parks - Canal Park and Belknap Park.

Outdoor Games, Gear, and Equipment You Can Rent for FREE From Grand Rapids Gear Library

Grand Rapid Parks and Recreation recently added skateboards to the Thrive Outside Gear Library. Did you know about all the cool stuff you can rent for free? Just about anything you'd need for a camping trip you'll find in the Gear Library at Roosevelt Park Gym, plus team sports equipment, clothing, picnic supplies, even gear for cold weather activities too! The Gear Library is located at the gym at Roosevelt Park at 739 Van Raalte Dr. SW in Grand Rapids. The library is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
