It’s Labor Day, and That Means BBQ!
Happy Labor Day Weekend! What do you have planned for today? Games, golf, fishing, a backyard BBQ?When there's food involved, it's no surprise that we'll probably over eat. According to a new survey, the average person eats about three times more at a BBQ than they would during a normal meal.
Most of us chow down on about 1,800 calories at a barbecue, while a typical meal at home would be about 500 to 700 calories.
And what are we eating? The top five BBQ foods are: burgers, hot dogs, salad, potato salad and coleslaw. A plate with one helping of each has around 900 calories. And most of us (61% according to the survey) go back for seconds.
Oh, and that's not even counting the alcohol. Have two glasses of wine or a couple of beers and that's an extra 400 calories or more.
I don't want to take the fun out of the holiday, but I hope you're taking it a little easy this Labor Day
