He is "Gary," given the name by Kentwood residents in the 52nd Street and Kalamazoo area. Apparently he's been hanging around a long time, just walking up and down the area doing Turkey calls, looking for other Turkey's. It's sad.

Maybe he was someone's pet who just dropped him off. Or he just likes hanging around people more that other turkey's in the area, who knows, but he became a real part of the community. He would walk into traffic, follow cars and people but fortunately never got hit.

He became so popular that a group created a Facebook page for Gary and would post updates, while pictures and videos poured in.

So many folks were worried about poor Gary that they would leave food out for him. Well, you can imagine, he loved that, and stuck around even more. But, he was a traffic hazard and, as people grew close to Gary and wished him well, they called the DNR to rescue him.

Well, that didn't work. They tried but Gary was too crafty for the DNR. So, now what do you do? Gary needs to be safe and away from traffic. He needs other turkeys and especially a girl friend, not a Jeep friend.

Kentwood Police to the rescue! Residents called the Cops and good news, they knew what to do and they got their man.....err.....Turkey!

So, all's well that ends well, and Gary will now be relocated to a safe place to hang with other friends and buddies, and the residents of Kentwood can rest easier the Gary won't end up on someone's dinner table.
