I-96 Lane Closures Could Cause Weekend Travel Headaches

While the weather isn't quite as warm as most of us would like it to be, it IS officially Spring here in West Michigan and among other things, that means that it's time for road construction season to begin.

This weekend travelers on I-96 both east and westbound could experience some headaches due to lane closures.

Starting at 8 p.m. Friday and ending at 5 a.m. on Monday, eastbound I-96 from just west of Thornapple River Drive to just west of Whitneyville Avenue will have the left lane closed for pavement repair. This is in addition to the westbound I-96 closure in that same area. This project will repair pavement along I-96 from Thornapple River Drive to the Kent/Ionia county line, and is scheduled for completion in mid-August.

The work is weather dependent.
