How You Can Earn Money for Allowing Hunters to Use Your Land in Michigan

Michigan's Hunting Access Program pays Michigan landowners who allow hunters to access their private land for hunting.

The Michigan DNR is currently accepting Hunting Access Program applications.

Here's how the program works:

STEP 1

• Own land in northern Lower Peninsula counties including: Alcona, Alpena, Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Iosco, Leelanau, Manistee, Mason, Montmorency, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Otsego, Presque Isle and parts of Wexford.

STEP 2

• Own at least 40 acres.

STEP 3

• Your property must contain a minimum of five percent wildlife habitat.

STEP 4

• Start the application process by emailing dnr-hap@michigan.gov or calling 517-284-4741.

The Michigan DNR will pay up to $25 per acre with additional incentives in Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency and Oscoda counties.

Landowners will receive liability protection through Public Act 451.
