Pandemic or no pandemic, illness or no illness, patients at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital are celebrating in a very sweet way with cupcakes!

Patients at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital have designed cupcakes, and they're now baked and on sale at The Salted Cupcake in Kentwood. They're only $4 each with $1 from each cupcake sold going the the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.

It actually was a competition and six designs were selected from all the submissions as the winners.

Fox 17 reported that the Salted Cupcake owner, Korina Thompson said, "It’s a lot of fun. We don’t usually work with food coloring that much, so just to be able to make these really cool creations is a lot of fun for everyone in the kitchen and the customers to see."

I think customers really need to try 11-year-old Ashlyn Rogers design, who has been treated for liver cancer at the hospital. She created the ChocoBerry Bomb, a chocolate cake cupcake frosted with strawberry buttercream and topped with a milk chocolate-covered strawberry. Mmmmmm!

How about 8-year-old Queen Hardy's Glitter Cup, a chocolate cupcake frosted with vanilla buttercream and decorated with rainbow sprinkles and edible glitter.

Queen has been having a tough time of it at Helen DeVos, being treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia, but when she found out her design was one of the winners, her spirits were much higher with a big smile on her face.

Okay, for real, you need to buy one of each!

If you would like to place an order, the easiest way is to message the bakery's Facebook page. You can also call them at (616) 990-9300.
