Get ready to glow.

Holland’s Parade of Lights kicks off at 6:30 p.m. TONIGHT, in downtown Holland!

Parading down 8th Street, it should be the largest procession in the parade’s 10 years, more than 75 parade entries with thousands of twinkling lights illuminating downtown Holland.

The parade begins at the corner of Eighth Street and Columbia Avenue, and continues down Eighth until it reaches the Eight Street Market Place, home of the Holiday Kerstmarkt.

Holland Township’s Parkway Electric is the exclusive sponsor of the parade, and I have the great honor of being Grand Marshall.  Look for me in a Parkway Electric Bucket Truck at the beginning of the parade.  What fun!

The lineup for this year’s Parade of Lights includes nonprofit organizations, marching bands, families, businesses and radio stations from across West Michigan, of course led by 100.5 The River's Jeep from Harold Zeigler Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Grandville.  The River Jeep will be decked out with sparkling lights from top to bottom.

Santa Claus himself will make an appearance at the parade. With his reindeer resting, at the Eighth Street Market Place for children to see and pet, Santa will arrive in downtown Holland on a Parkway Electric truck. At the end of the parade, Santa will greet young and old alike at the Eighth Street Market Place.

At the market, the Holland Area Friends of Art will be hosting the Holiday Kerstmarkt, an open-air European Christmas Market, where vendors in historically crafted booths sell unique handmade gifts and authentic Dutch holiday treats.

Free parking will still be available in the parking lots on Seventh and Ninth Streets, at the Eighth Street Market Place, and in the Seventh Street Parking Deck.
