Costumes and candy are coming to Luton Park this Friday night with a rare chance to ride or run the trails after dark.

The West Michigan Mountain Biking Alliance and Friends Of Luton Park are hosting the event on Friday, Oct. 25, at 5:30 p.m.

Costumes are encouraged. There will be a costume contest for kids and adults. Bikers must have a helmet and front/rear lights. Runners must have a headlamp.

Let's hope at least one person on a bike goes as Elliot from E.T.

Donuts, apples, hot apple cider and pulled pork sandwiches will be available.

The kids ride, run or walk begins at 6:00 p.m. They'll find plenty of treats hidden along the trail. The adult ride begins at 6:45 p.m. The adult run starts at 7:00 p.m. Everyone must be off the trail by 9:00 p.m. The park will close at 9:45 p.m.

The event will help to raise funds for several projects including new Luton Park restrooms, showers and water; Grand Rapids Bike Park phase 3, Manhattan Park in East Grand Rapids, Ball Perkins Park and The Dragon at Hardy Pond.

Register for the event by Thursday night.
