#11 Grand Valley State University women's soccer team took home their second consecutive national championship with a 3-0 win over #8 Rollins College on Saturday.

Grand Valley's Jenny Shaba got the Lakers an early lead with a goal just 6 minutes in and the Lakers never looked back. Kendra Stauffer made it 2-0 at the 53:17 mark before Jenny Shaba added her 12th goal of the season with less than a minute to play.

Grand Valley went on to a 3-0 win with a final record of 20-2-2.

GVSU outscored opponents 10-2 in the five NCAA tournament games. Their closest game was in the semifinal on Thursday against #6 Saint Rose, a 1-1 tie, which Grand Valley won 3-0 on penalty kicks.

We came together after the Ohio Dominican (loss on Oct. 17) and coach challenged us and said, 'Where are we going to go?' He put that on the seniors and the returning players to help guide this team and to show a direction of our experience and that we have been here before. Ever since that game, we went through those next games and took care of business. As soon as we hit the NCAA Tournament, again, our level of play just rose and rose, and it finally paid off in the end.

Congrats to the GVSU women's soccer team!
