Last year, Grand Valley knocked an undefeated Ferris State team out of the NCAA D-2 playoffs. This year, Ferris has a chance to the return the favor.

It's become one of the state's most intriguing college football rivalries, simply for the fact that every time they play, so much is at stake.

Grand Valley and Ferris State, the top two seeds in NCAA Division II's Super Regional 4, will meet again at Lubbers Field in Allendale Saturday at 1:00pm. The winner will move on to the D-2 semi-finals, the loser will go home and start planning for next season.

Both teams dominated their opponents on their respective home fields Saturday, setting up the showdown. Grand Valley won their 13th straight game, whipping Texas A&M - Commerce 55-32 in Allendale behind star halfback Marty Carter's 217 yards rushing. While Ferris rode the arm of senior back up quarterback Trevor Bermingham to defeat the Colorado School of Mines, 38-17 in Big Rapids.

Grand Valley won their showdown during the regular season 35-23 at Lubbers Field. That game essentially decided first place in the highly competitive GLIAC North.

A year ago, the situation was reversed as Ferris was undefeated and GVSU had two losses heading into their playoff matchup on the Ferris home field. The Lakers upset the Bulldogs 38-34 to advance. They eventually lost in the semi finals to Shepherd.

Will it be the Bulldogs playing the role of spoiler this season? Get your tickets now, they're going fast, and a sell out is expected.
