GRPD Hosting Recruitment Event for Women

This is a first for the Grand Rapids Police Department. Next weekend they will be hosting a recruitment event to attract more women to the force.

Lt. Maureen O’Brien says that any woman interested in a career in law enforcement is encouraged to attend the two-hour session. Attendees will hear from a 

...panel of female Grand Rapids officers, supervisors and command staff from various units will be on-hand to discuss their backgrounds, current assignments, challenges and experiences as an officer.”

Q&A’s will be available. 

The recruitment event will be Saturday, May 18 at 11 a.m at the headquarters in Downtown Grand Rapids (1 Monroe Center NW). The event is free but registration is required. Ages 18+

The 44 females officers the GRPD make up 14% of the department.
